A little bit of many people's talents...
This project started with a simple comment I made to Arce, our Children's Wall and graphics artist. We were out with the children painting the last of the wall. Arce asked if I was going to paint the rest of the front wall. I told her that it wasn't my plan. I wanted to put a statue of the Virgin out on the wall. Turns out her brother makes items from clay, including statues. That led to a conversation with her brother, Carlos, and a statue can to be. We had Arce paint the Virgin, so she would stand out against the wall.
Soon the statue was here and we had Armando put it temporarily on the back wall of our garden. We have an old well with a lovely arch back there, so she was set into a nice place to wait.
Another conversation with Sergio, brought us Oscar who is good with concrete and bricks. He built my bathroom sink (another project) and agreed to build the "altar". He did a terrific job and entertained the neighbors for two days.
Next Sergio brought Diego to the house. He is an artist who could paint the "altar" and make it what I had imagined. So, Diego and I talked about colors, flowers, and such. He arrived with paint and his tools. Five hours later I had a finished "altar" fit for the Virgin..
Now we just have to wait for Armando to put up the hooks and move her to the place of honor. I did get a new item for the back wall, since we've gotten used to the Virgin hanging there. Once it's up ... I'll post a picture.
